Here are Made My Date’s recommendations for the Best Christmas Markets to visit as a Couple in 2021……
Believe it or not this small town Christmas market is one of the most popular for reviews and articles and it’s back in its full glory for Winter 2021! With over 40 traditional wooden cabins with treats, gifts, stocking fillers and much, much more there is plenty to see with your partner at this Xmas market. Once you and partner have shopped away and are looking for a relaxing break, you can enjoy the Alpine Village, the Hog Roast and some indulgent Mulled Wine together too! You can get into the festive cheer together as early as the 18th November and all within an easy commute from Central London.
A classic Christmas market set in Greenwich, Cutty Sark and steeped with tradition and history; Greenwich market is great for traditional christmas gifts, food, drink and many hand-made art & crafts stalls.
This year the Nottingham Christmas market is going to take over the whole span of the city centre and will see the arrival of an Apres-Ski themed pop-up bar on old Market Square as well as the annual addition of the traditional Helter Shelter bar. They have also added a specially-constructed Christmas Village complete with Igloo-style glass domes for you and your loved one to cosy up together in!
Manchester city has not one but five Christmas markets for you and your partner to enjoy and has been ranked the best Xmas market in the UK by many articles and blogs! The main attraction in this year’s Christmas market bonanza is the new family-friendly Winter Gardens in the heart of the city centre. This is a sure bet for a date day out with so many attractions from yuletide bars offering locally brewed ales, food stalls, craft sellers and – for the first time – a stage with live music and DJs throughout the festive season. Even better, you can enjoy the Winter Gardens all the way through into the new year as it’s open until 3rd Jan 2022.
- Birmingham Xmas Market – twinned with Frankfurt, Germany:
Boasted as the largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria, the Birmingham Christmas Market is run by the local Birmingham Council in conjunction with the Frankfurt council and because of which is probably the most authentic German Christmas market there is in England.
- Narborough Village, Leicestershire:
For a special day out with your loved one with the charm and character of a small village fete, you should visit the Parish Hall in Narborough Village on Saturday 4th December 2021. The festivities start from 4pm and include a variety of merchandise stalls with great gift ideas, food and drink, fun activities, and festive food and drink to enjoy whilst you are there all in a welcoming and christmassy atmosphere. This may be a small, one day Christmas market but it is sure not to disappoint either!
- Brighton Xmas Festival (Launching in 2021):
This year is the debut of the Brighton Christmas festival and there is already a lot of buzz around what’s going to be on offer. Dubbed as the ‘London by the sea’, the Brighton Christmas festival is going to be full of fun, mulled wine, festive treats, Beer on tap and lots more and will stretch over the span from the Seafront all the way to St. Peter’s Church. Move over Brighton as a summer destination, let’s make way for it’s winter attractions now too!
- Selfridges, London – Pop-Up Xmas Market:
For a fun, shopping inspired Christmas market right in the heart of Central London, why not visit the Selfridges Pop-Up Xmas market located at Edwards Mews, at the rear of Selfridges London. Open for the second time, this year’s pop-up market is even bigger and better than the last. This Christmas market is ticketed but it’s well worth the price; with market stalls, rides, festive food and drink, a Big Wheel, A Christmas Tree Maze, a Night Light Show to name just a few of the attractions available! This is a sure fire bet when it comes to taking your partner on the most christmassy date night there is!
